The Windows of the Chelsea Market High Line

The windowpanes that can be seen when walking through the High Line’s Chelsea Market passage were once individual pixels. The color of each pane represents a pixel in the images created by artist Spencer Finch over a period of 700 minutes on the Hudson River, floating in a tugboat. Over the course of this 700-minute journey, Finch took one photograph every minute, portraying the changing conditions of the river over time. In the installation, time passes from left to right, and top to bottom.
