Only two months in to the year and 2016 is already looking to be an amazing year for music. With reunions, massive tours, amazing festivals and new albums set to happen, this will not be a year to forget. Here are the top five things to look forward to this year.
5. Guns n Roses Reniuon.
Lead singer Axel Rose has been touring under the band’s name for about 15 years, but this year all the original members will reunite at this years Coachella music and arts festival and play their first show together since 1995. And although this band is WAY passed their prime, it will be fascinating to see how a band who has hated each other for so many years play together.
4. The Last Shadow Puppets comeback.
It’s been eight years since The Last Shadow Puppets last album, and a lot has changed for the band’s co frontman Alex Turner. With his band Arctic Monkeys going from well regarded indie rock band to an international arena act, it will be interesting to see how that changes the sound of the band. They have released the first single from the new album, Bad Habit, which is already showing a massive change in sound from their slow mostly orchestral debut “The Age of The Understatement”. It is very exciting to see this band comeback, and have a tour to follow it.
3. Panorama Festival
For the past few years, Governors Ball has inhabited Randall’s Island for their massive festival, but this year, only a month after this years Gov Ball, will be Panorama Festival. Set up by the same people who set up Coachella, it will also be located on Randall’s Island, it will be interesting to see how this festival compares to Gov Ball. Although there is no line up announced I still think it will be something to look forward to.
2. New Radiohead Album.
After the band’s guitarist Jonny Greenwood announced that Radiohead’s new album was finished, fans excitement went through the roof. It’s been four years since the legendary band’s last amazing album Kings of Limbs and this album could not come fast enough. Already showing they can still make amazing songs by releasing their rejected theme from the most recent James Bond film, this album is looking better and better. Having also recently announced tour dates at music festivals like Bonnaroo, Radiohead’s comeback will be something you won’t wanna miss.
1. LCD SOUNDSYTEM REUNION
This is hands down the biggest deal in music this year. These electronic punks, who played their last show five years ago at Madison Square Garden, announced headline appearances at festivals around the world following the release of a new song. Just the thought of songs like, “Dance Yourself Clean”, “All My Friends”, and “New York I Love You, But Your Bringing Me Down” being played again makes me shake with excitement. It would be a true shame to miss this amazing band’s amazing reunion.
